American Gold Eagle Coins

The American Gold Eagle coin is iconic in the precious metal industry, renowned for its intrinsic value and historical significance. The United States Mint introduced the American Eagle bullion program in 1986, launching coins in both Gold and Silver. The US Mint releases a new version of the Gold Eagle coins and Silver Eagle coins every January, updated with the year of issue.

The United States Mint produces the American Gold Eagle coins, offering investors a tangible way to diversify their portfolio. Available in various denominations, including 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz, these coins cater to a range of investment goals and preferences.

The obverse coin design of the Gold Eagle is based on the $20 Saint-Gauden's Liberty Gold coin from 1907. Augustus Saint-Gaudens created this design at the request of President Roosevelt. The portrayal of Lady Liberty is widely regarded as one of the most exquisite coin designs globally, symbolizing freedom and progress. The design showcases Lady Liberty clutching a torch ablaze in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The word "LIBERTY" is exhibited on the upper portion of the coin. In the background is the United States Capitol dome, accompanied by beams of sunlight.

The reverse design of the Gold Eagle (until mid-2021) features a bald eagle descending onto its family's nest, gripping an olive branch with its talons. The mother bald eagle is shown perched within the nest, safeguarding their eaglets, symbolizing unity. This reverse design was scuplted by Sherl J. Winter and conceptualized by Miley Busiek Frost. To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle, a fresh reverse coin design was introduced for the Gold Eagle coin. Coins with the updated reverse design were released in the second half of 2021 from the United States Mint. Commonly referred to as the "Type 2" design, this new reverse design offers a close-up view of a bald eagle. Jennie Norris devised the design, which was sculpted by Renata Gordon. The coin also includes novel security enhancements.

With their captivating design featuring Lady Liberty and the majestic American bald eagle, Gold Eagle coins capture the essence of American heritage and strength. Explore the allure of Gold Eagle coins today, and discover a tangible piece of history.
